Theatre Express

Our school specialises in using performing arts techniques to enhance your language learning.

In addition to our Theatre programmes in the UK and Online, our team can travel to you to run a programme in English through drama.
Whether you are a school putting on a theatre show, a language centre running a drama or filmmaking project or a business looking for a fun team-building programme, we have the course for you!
By taking language learning out of the traditional classroom, students are refocused and engaged, and in turn flourish within this innovative method of learning. Our projects enable students to develop their vocabulary, pronunciation, and delivery of English.

The performing arts are an excellent tool for allowing students to express themselves, develop their critical thinking skills, enhance self-confidence and improve the life skill of improvisation.
When working on a piece of theatre, students are exposed to various situations, cultures and experiences which enable them to grow not only as performers but also as individuals. Working towards a theatrical performance requires discipline, commitment and teamwork, all of which will help your students with their ongoing development.
Throughout the project your students will be exposed to various performance based skills including but not limited to: storytelling, speech exercises, expressive poetry, characterisation, dance and movement, singing and music exploration, working from stimuli and creating an original story. At the end of each project family and friends will be invited to attend a performance evening to see all that your students have achieved.
As all of our projects are created for you, we can accommodate students of varying ages and language abilities.

We come to you!

Our School Productions are designed for success and ease, with everyone given a chance to shine. A lead cast will hold the essence of the story allowing for younger students to provide supporting roles. The school will be split into groups so that each student has adequate time with their performing arts teacher to learn the story and their individual role.
Sessions will be spent working on characterisation, learning songs, performing dance routines, developing theatre techniques and stage acting. Structured rehearsals, repetition, ongoing support and guidance will ensure that students feel empowered and confident performing on stage together in English. Scripts are created based on the ages, interests and language levels of your students. We can create an adaptation of a well-known story, or something completely original. We can follow your curriculum to help students bring their classroom learning to the stage!

We come to you!

English & Drama Camp combines the strengths of two Lewis School services – English Courses in Your Country (expert language teachers) and Theatre Express (specialists in performing arts for English language learners). These two services work in unison to create a memorable learning experience for students, but perhaps even more importantly a quality-orientated and action-packed learning environment that develops all the skills required to learn and practise a language successfully and expressively.
English lessons and the performing arts is a powerful combination!
Each day of the course is divided into two parts. Our language experts deliver interactive lessons in class and then hand over to our performing arts specialists, who transform that language into practice – performance on stage. This course motivates and inspires language learners, while also working on other key skills.
Our English and Drama camp takes students from classroom to stage, which they love!
